His story is retold in many norse tales and more famously made into the famously epic Nibelungenlied. The stories differ on the details, but several elements remain consistent. He gains a magical sword and slays a dragon whose name is almost always Fafnir, he betrays a woman so that she may marry his lord, and is killed tragicly by this woman. Siegfried was born a prince of the Netherlands. He was raised as a soldier and a knight. He had fought in many campaigns to earn the respect of his family. They gifted him with the holy sword, Balmung. This sword was capable of felling entire armies by itself. The sword is immense, requiring inhuman strength to wield. The knight's most notable feat was slaying the dragon, Fafnir. He heroically slew the dragon and bathed in its magical blood to gain its immense power. During his batheing a fig leaf stuck to his back and left a single portion of him untouched. He secured Fafnir's hoard for his family. He took to the field of battle afterward and conquered much of the land in the name of his lord and family. He was known to be invulnerable due to the enchantment on his body from the dragon's blood. With his body protected and wielding his legendary sword, he was capable of defeating armies by himself. He was determined to marry his lord's sister, Kriemhild, and followed the orders of his lord, King Gunther, to do so. Gunther wished to woo the Queen of Iceland, Brünhild. Siegfried utilized an invisibility cloak to assist Gunther in all of the tasks given to him by the queen. Siegfried works to secure Gunther in all regards including reducing the queen's troops so that she may not attack his land in retailiation. Finally, he dons his invisibility cloak to wrestle her into submission so that Gunther can consummate his marriage. Due to his role in tricking Brünhild, his own countrymen plot against him. The king's sister works with these men and marks his weak point with a cross so that they can see where to strike him. He is struck in the back while drinking from a river. He has been undefeated on every battlefield, but lost his life that day with no one around. The spear that struck his back was known as being the blade of betrayal served to him for his acts against Brünhild. | [attr="class","field"] [attr="class","redheading"]PERSONALITY Siegfried is a true knight at heart. While he known for being an undefeated warrior on the battlefield or an excellent captain to his men, he was truly known for his selflessness. He would take on any request at the call of others. He had his own sense of justice which was to do good, but by following everyone's requests his own sense of justice is distorted. His noble desire to do good is clouded by his own selflessness. The requests others ask of him require him to go against his own sense of justice and creates a void in his heart. Siegfried as a Servant, with the power of hindsight, wishes to live up to his own sense of justice. He considers his master his lord, but will not act against his own sense of justice without the use of a command seal. He wishes to fight for his justice and enjoy the thrill of battle once more Despite his absolute denial of certain requests, he treats his master with respect. He thinks of his master like his lord, and must have absolute respect for him. He will not betray himself for his Master. However, he will attempt to fulfill any other request he can for his Master. He can help but act selflessly, especially for his Master. | [attr="class","field"] [attr="class","blackheading"]COMBAT Siegfried's combat style is that of one befitting the title of Saber. He wields his massive sword with a level of agility and dexterity unseemly for someone of his stature and a sword of that size. His legend says that his swordsmanship far surpasses that of mankind and thus he is inhumanly capable. He is capable of taking every opening that his opponent makes to close the gap between them. He fights to the best of his ability in every battle. He tries to hide his full abilities by dodging, parrying, and blocking every blow possible. He is well aware of the renown his legend has and wishes to his identity as best he can. As such, he only takes attacks that he must. If he cannot avoid an attack properly or must take the attack to defend someone, he uses his invulnerability to try to end the fight quickly. The moment of confusion that he is unharmed is the moment he plans to end the battle. | [attr="class","field"] [attr="class","redheading"]SKILLS AND PARAMETERS [attr="class","stat"]STRENGTH ▬ ▬ ▬ ▬ ▬ A[attr="class","stat"]ENDURANCE ▬ ▬ ▬ ▬ B[attr="class","stat"]AGILITY ▬ ▬ ▬ ▬ B[attr="class","stat"]MANA ▬ ▬ ▬ C[attr="class","stat"]LUCK ▬ E[attr="class","stat"]MAGIC RESISTANCE ▬ Description: A hero's protection from magical effects and their capcity to negate magic. This skill is different from Resistance that rejects prana by cancelling the spell altogether. The nature of Siegfried's Armor of Fafnir forced him to lose the ability to use this skill altogether.
[attr="class","stat"]RIDING ▬ ▬ ▬ ▬ B Description: Siegfried has the capacity to be summoned under the mantle of Rider. Most vehicles can be handled with above average skill. However, cannot ride the likes of Phantasm Races such as Monstrous Beasts.
[attr="class","stat"]BRAVERY ▬ ▬ ▬ ▬ ▬ A+ Description: The ability to negate mental interference such as pressure, confusion, and fascination. Bonus to melee damage. Siegfried has fought across all battlefields. He has never cowered in the face of the enemy nor has he backed down from any challenge in his way. His ability to stand before any enemy without faltering, whether they be an army or a dragon, has earned him the highest bravery.
[attr="class","stat"]INSTINCT ▬ ▬ ▬ ▬ ▬ A Description: Refined sixth sense is now close to true precognition. Bonus effect of reducing by half the penalties caused by obstructed vision and hearing. Siegfried's swordsmanship is said to be beyond human ability. He was born with a natural instinct that has been tempered by a lifetime of battle and augmented by magical influence. He is capable of turning any opening into a vital chance and will not fall for any half-hearted feints.
[attr="class","stat"]PRANA BURST ▬ ▬ ▬ ▬ ▬ A Description: The increase in performance caused by infusing one's weapons and body with magical energy and instantly expelling it. Simply put, recreating the effect of a jet burst by expending large amounts of prana. A normal weapon that is not on the level of a divine mystery can be destroyed in one blow. Raises defense in several times. His entire body hums with prana he stole from the dragon that he slew. He is capable of releasing the prana in large bursts to deliver a crushing blow or enhance his speed.
[attr="class","stat"]GOLDEN RULE ▬ ▬ ▬ C- Description: A life in which money is fated revolve around. Siegfried never had to worry about money troubles. The Nibelung treasure was spoke of across all lands and it was where he found his enchanted sword. However, since the Nibelung treasure promised a life untroubled by money, his luck receives a rank-down for his lack of struggling.
[attr="class","stat"]INVISIBILITY CLOAK ▬ ▬ ▬ C Cloak of the Dwarven Treasure Keeper The cloak of Alberich, the Dwarven Keeper of the Nibelung Treasure. Siegfried came into possession of this cloak after Alberich sought to get revenge for the Nibelungs. Alberich fell before the might of blade and his cloak was claimed by Siegfried as well.
When this cloak is donned Siegfried is treated as both being in spirit form and with presence concealment of the same rank. This Noble Phantasm requires very little upkeep of prana and is suited to allow Siegfried to accompany his master anywhere without other Servants being aware of him being there. Due to Siegfried's legend, he is capable of materializing under the mantle of the cloak and acting within reason. He is capable of feats of strength without others being aware of his presence, but he cannot attack. The effect of his presence concealment while materialized is reduced against other Servants.[attr="class","stat"]ARMOR OF FAFNIR ▬ ▬ ▬ ▬ B+ Armor of the Evil Dragon This Noble Phantasm is embodiment of Siegfried's legend. It reenacts Siegfried's bathing in the blood of the dragon Fafnir and grants him a dragon's body with invulnerability that made all weapons ineffective against him in life.
His skin is greater than any armor. He is capable of nullifying any attack B-rank or below that hits him. It requires an attack above A-rank to deal proper damage to Siegfried, but even after bypassing his defense the attack is reduced by 'a B-rank' meaning that an A-rank attack will only cause shallow wounds against him. This Noble Phantasm gains the rank of B+ rank when fighting against a Noble Phantasm wielded by a proper hero.
The only chink in his armor is in the center of his back. In his legend, a fig leaf stuck to his back while he was bathing and left him vulnerable there. There is no defensive armaments protecting this spot and he cannot conceal this spot except with his hair.[attr="class","stat"]BALMUNG ▬ ▬ ▬ ▬ ▬ A+ Phantasmal Greatsword, Felling of the Sky Demon Anti-Army - The two handed golden greatsword of legend. This sword is massive, requiring inhuman strength to wield and appears to be made for inhuman hands. The sword has a blue gem embedded in the hilt that has preserved magic from the Age of the Gods in the form of True Ether. This weapon has a dual presence when wielded by certain heroes. In the hands of Sigurd, the norse hero, it becomes the demonic sword of glory Gram. It's attack is released in a beam of light similar to Caliburn. In the hands of Siegfried, the german hero, it becomes Balmung, the enchanted holy blade on par with the greatest of all holy blades. Due to Siegfried's legend of slaying the dragon Fafnir, this greatsword has a property for dragon slaying and is incredibly potent against those affiliated with dragons.
The Noble Phantasm's true power is to create a wave of magic comparable to the Age of the Gods. By chanting "O sword, Let thee be filled," and holding it above his head, the jewel will be enveloped by an orange light. The entire sword will take on a twilight aura as it swells with power. The sword releases this magic in a wave of pure destruction in front of him. This weapon causes a large amount of damage in a wide area making it difficult to avoid, but inferior to weapons that attack in a straight line.
