Among the first to answer the Mage's Association's call, the Brand family has been around forever. Thought to be originally part of the Teutonic Order, they are a long lineage of knights that happen to practice magic. Over the centuries, they have passed down spells that empower them as fighters. Since the start of the Mage's Association, the Brands have been loyal champions of the Clock Tower, never questioning their orders when acting as Enforcers.

Like most of her ancestors before her, Nadia Brand was raised to be an Enforcer for the Mage's Association. Thoroughly trained in combat, she was a prodigious fighter even as a child, so much so that people overlooked the awkward fact that she had little interest in magecraft. The study of magic bores her; she lives for action and a good fight. Always has, always will.

As a little girl, she ran around playing the role of knight in shining armor for other little girls, complete with a sword and sometimes even the armor. A bright-eyed child grew into a disciplined and honorable soldier. Nadia is ideal for the Association's purposes. She has only just entered the ranks of the Enforcers, but she is a serious young woman, dedicated to fulfilling any mission without asking questions.

But sometimes, she's not sure why she obeys orders. Sometimes, she thinks she should be the one giving orders.

ADVENTUROUS. I wasn't kidding when I said she wanted to grow up to become a knight in shining armor. She's still keen on slaying dragons (there aren't any left) and saving damsels in distress (there really aren't many of those either). Still, a girl can dream.

HONORABLE. Honor is her immortal reputation. She keeps her promises, and she would never besmirch her family name. As loyal as they are, the Mage's Association is aware that there are some orders that the Brand family will refuse to follow.

BLOOD KNIGHT. At the end of the day, behind all the honor and valor, Nadia just likes a good fight. She's at her happiest in a fair duel against a worthy opponent.

OBEDIENT? Obedience has always been the greatest virtue of the Brand bloodline. Nadia is where the buck stops. She'll follow the orders (but preferably the advice or suggestions) of those she respects. For now, she respects the Mage's Association.

MINDLESS. Nadia has never really stopped to think for herself. So far, she's blindly led the life her parents planned for her, and now she blindly fulfills the tasks the Mage's Association sets before her.

BORED. Quite frankly, her life is a little bit dull--or quite a lot dull. She lives, but she's not quite sure what she lives for. Duty? Honor? It's good to talk about those things, anyway. It helps her stay positive.

GLORY. She wishes for glory, so she says. It's just another one of those things she hasn't thought about. What she really wants is to live her own life, which would probably be that of a wandering vagrant looking for worthy opponents to challenge to a duel.

  • Combat Prowess - Wildly considered the best and brightest of the upcoming Enforcers, Nadia is meant to be a fighting machine. She's exceptionally fit and extensively trained for both magical and physical battle.
  • Ironskin - "Schließ dein Herz in Eisen ein!" The first spell created for the Brand magic crest over a thousand years ago and still their most iconic power, Ironskin is a simple defensive spell: it makes her skin as hard as iron and resilient to magic to boot. While it doesn't have any deleterious effects, it is costly in prana and is only used for serious battles.
  • Dance of Death - "Versunken ist die alte Welt; verfault das Fleisch, verblasst der Glanz. Doch wo sich Geist zu Geist gesellt, da tanzt man noch den Todestanz." A more modern addition to the magic crest, it completes the perfect knight. The first incantation makes Nadia tireless and numbs her sense of pain. This costs little prana and has no real risks. However, with the completion of the full incantation, she can make herself superhuman, a perfect soldier at the peak of human potential (think Captain America, comparable to a C rank for all the Servant parameters). It's still cheap prana, but she can only sustain this effect for about ten minutes. Past ten minutes, she's pushing her body's limits; while she doesn't feel the pain due to the spell, her internal organs and bones will start to collapse and crumble.
  • Avalon - The Everdistant Utopia - The sheathe Avalon is stored on her body, allowing her to regenerate wounds and heal back from even mortal wounds. In conjunction with Dance of Death, Nadia is a scary, scary fighter. After about half an hour of maintaining Dance of Death, the damage to her body outpaces Avalon's healing potential, causing her to collapse until her regeneration catches up again.
  • Excalibur - Sword of Promised Victory - Nadia is Excalibur's proper owner, as chosen by the Lady of the Lake. She is capable of using it to a much lesser effect than Saber (Nadia's ideals are weak in comparison--Excalibur's power would improve if she gets her priorities sorted out and fights for her own beliefs), but it still consumes tons of prana. She cannot use Excalibur more than once in a single battle. If she's low on prana, she'll fall unconscious after using Excalibur. (As an aside, she can't use Invisible Air because she's not skilled enough at magecraft.)
  • Krimhild. An heirloom sword, its steel stained dark red with magic. Nadia fights with Krimhild before Excalibur. It's a regular zweihander, save for an enchantment that's kept its blade sharp and strong over the centuries. With Dance of Death, she wields Krimhild one-handed.
  • Magic Circuits - You want magic circuits? She's got magic circuits. She's got so many magic circuits. A millennia's worth of selective breeding is Nadia Brand. She can do the mage thing real good.
  • Squib - Besides for her mastery of her magic crest, Nadia is a lackluster mage due to complete and total lack of effort. Although she has magic circuits up the wazoo, her prana control is essentially a joke, and her ability to perform basic magecraft is novice-level at best. She can only heal her Servant by feeding them copious amounts of prana, which prevents her from having enough prana to do anything herself.
