Taixuan might be a small developing city, but its only airport was clearly never deprived of passengers.

Innesviel waited patiently in the Arrival section, her mantle smooth and her fur hat perfectly crowning her silver hairs. Her red eyes was frowning a bit as she tiptoed herself on the tip of her feet, but a picturesque smile was ever-present on her face. She did not mind waiting, she told herself, but she sure hoped that the air conditioner of this airport could work a little better.

In an airport of a small city in China, a child like Innesviel would quickly draw attention, her purple mantle and striking silver hairs would her stand out even with her short height. But Taixuan had a recent flux of travelers recently, which made passing people and airport officials only gave a brief curious gaze at Innesvile before continuing their ways. She might be just a daughter of a Russian or European tourist, and the way she behaved herself in the crowd would suggest a well-educated child of high upbringing waiting for a relative of her to finally join a vacation in Taixuan.

The part the she was well-educated could be quite true, as well as her high upbringing. But what the young girl was waiting was in no way a relative of hers.

Rather, Luciel Fraoude could be considered a business partner. And this was sure how the Einzberns themselves viewed him.

With the arrival of the Association Overseer, the Master with the noblest lineage was expected to welcome and helped the Overseer for a while. But with the ragtag members the team, it was left to Innesviel, as a representative of The Einzberns, to send the family’s greetings to the Overseeer. Such courtesy was not uncommon but at the same time was rarely heard, and Innesviel was willing to do this simply because the Einzberns found it necessary.

It would be in their best interest if the Overseer side with them against the open insolence of the Yggddmillennia. Innesviel was ordered to make sure this was the case.

As the clock ticked on, Innes brought two hands to cover her mouth and yawned. She slightly wondered where Assassin had gone to when she said “Scout the area” but was sure that she did not need any help dealing with this Tier. One glance at the crowds and the Overseer would soon know that an Einzbern homunculus had been waiting for him. The rest should be easy to let flow.

But if she really needed assistance, then it would not be hard to call Assassin back. The three Comand Spells on her glowed reassuringly.

The cramped cabin of a plane would never beat a library for the proper place to study. The lack of arm or leg room, the lack of a proper desk, the constant pestering from flight attendants. Oh how Luciel loathed flights. The invention of the airplane was a marvel, but modern practice had tainted the original ideas. Sadly this was often the case as inventions of the greatest minds were inherited by their ignorant children.

The magus kept himself busy during his twelve hour flight, only barely attributing any of it to sleep. He had a folder with all the information he could gather in his hurried departure from Clocktower. He could say he had known most of this before, but it didn't hurt to study it. The selection of Masters for Red Team had left much unwanted information fresh in his mind that he needed to sort away. While many of the Masters who found themselves fighting for the Grail were not Luciel's first picks, it was the best they could do on such short notice. It was one of those many matters that couldn't be helped. The collective minds had done the best they could with what they had.

He spent his time reading over files of information. Paragraphs and pictures. He summarized the information as best he could and wrote it into a small black notebook. He planned to keep this with him for as long as he felt it necessary. It would provide him with preliminary information regarding the Masters he would have the pleasure of organizing as well as any additional information he finds and notes he would take.

Just why did Octavian have to choose China of all places for this? Was it specifically to make the flight a horrible experience?

--------------------------------------------------------

The bodies leaving the plan obscured the two from sight at first. Luciel wasn't one to rush out of the gates with all of the impatient cattle. As the initial flow dispersed the familiar sight of Luciel entered her view. His light grey hair was parted and hanging down the sides of his head. His clothing was relatively basic, yet formal enough. His typical ruffle and high collar were noticeable on his shirt. His dress shoes made a clicking noise with every step on the floor. His nose was pointed downward as he reviewed his information for the upcoming conversations.

He looked up as the light changed around him. It take but a moment for his cold blue eyes to fall on the young girl waiting for him. He closed the small notebook with a snap and placed it back in his coat jacket. He took long strides to make it over the child. His suitcase rolled behind him as he approached. He stopped with two steps between them. An ample distance.

He look a half step back and lowered his head. His free hand rose to lay over his heart in a small bow. A formality at best.

"Miss Innesviel von Einzbern, I presume. It is a pleasure to meet you. It is most gracious of you to await my arrival personally." Luciel look over his shoulder, awaiting a familiar face to follow. "I hope you don't mind additional company. My son has made the trip with me. He is aware of our schedule and shouldn't pose any threat to our pace."

Showcasing the perfected manners she had been drilled since the day she was born, Innesviel’s bored face took a complete turn the moment she sensed the Overseer’s presence. All traces of yawning suddenly vanished from her face, her posture loosened, and a firm yet polite smile streaked across her bright face. If someone had seen her now, they would think that the young girl had just started waiting seconds ago and was both excited and anxious in her patience. Innesviel might have grown up in battlefields, but the things she was equipped with before she went out always made themselves known.

As their eyes met, Innesviel’s smile widened a little and she held the edges of her skirt, sweeping Tier a fabulous curtsy. Elegance at its best.

“And you must be Sir Luciel Fraoude, of the Association. The pleasure is all ours.”

But when she raised her head again, her eyes were glinting somewhat condescendingly. The pleasantries had stopped.

“We had hoped for someone of a nobler family to be an Overseer of an event as important as this, but of course, your participation is duly welcomed...”

Yes. In the eyes of The Einzberns a family strong in curses and necromancy with only around two hundred years of history was not respectable enough. In truth, they had hoped for a Lord to oversee this possibility of fourteen Servants clashing at once.

“…So, welcome to Taixuan, Sir Fraoude. We of the Einzberns hoped that we can find a common ground in our mutual endeavor."

Mutual
. Through this young girl the old alchemists family had already exerted their pressure.

But then, strangely, Innes tilted her head and her smile was far friendlier than before.

"…Oh, and of course, my greetings to your son too!”

And with another graceful curtsy at Tier’s son, Innesviel turned around and skipped along her way as if she had said nothing to Tier but a simple "Welcome!". It would not be hard to imagine that she was simply repeating words that she was told to say, with her last sentence being her own response.

Quickly, she led them out of the Arrival section and on the direction of the main entrance, where the main road would take commuters to Taixuan. She had been careful of not saying much lest they were overheard, and the way she acted and smiled really made an impression of a foreigner child waiting for her uncle to come on a holiday. Some airport officials smiled and bid them welcome as they passed, and Innesviel cheerfully waved back at them.

In the periphery of the Airport’s building they were apporached by a short Chinese man, lean and proper in his taxi uniform. He had a kind and long face that was sincere in his smile, and the way he behaved himself showed a stable man that might have been a dedicated driver as well as a dedicated father. He seemed to be almost thirty.

He greeted them in Chinese.

“Your uncle has arrived, Miss E-in?”

Smiling back, Innes nodded and pointed at Tier and his son following behind. She replied in perfect Chinese of her own.

“Yes! Please help them with their bags, Mister Zheng. We will drive to their hotels.”

The man bowed and smiled.

“Of course.”

And so, the friendly taxi driver went towards tier and tried to help him getting his belongings inside the taxi, communicating in broken but understandable English if he had to. He had been lucky, he would say if asked. No one could really afford the luxurious taxies his company provided, and in less than three months after he quitted his old office to join the new Taxi company he had found his new job in the line. Then, yesterday his company ordered him to pick a daughter of a wealthy European aristocrat and gave her a sightseeing tour of Taixuan. Miss E-in had been chartering his service since then, booking his taxi for one full week to pick her up and drive her wherever she wanted to go. Like yesterday, she visited many locations and asked many questions about Taixuan. Being a native, he found it interesting that a foreigner was so interested in his small town’s history. Miss E-in was even kind enough for allowing him to call her in a shortened form since her real family name was very difficult. He also remembered that yesterday Miss E-in was accompanied by a strange-looking woman, but she did not talk much and neither did Miss E-in to her.

While Mister Zheng was helping Tier with his belongings, Innes addressed Tier once again.

“Where should we go, Mister Fraoude? Do you have a place to stay already?”
