[attr="class","field"]In theory, Meng Na and Octavian Yggdmillenia married for love. The problem was that their love didn't last for very long. She's taken multiple lovers and even given birth, but no child of hers is his.

Her father was the previous supervisor of Taixuan for the Mage's Association until he died of old age four years ago. Her mother was the youngest daughter of an Austrian magus family with too many children. She was content losing herself to books and daydreams, making her parents' union in the backwater of Taixuan a more or less agreeable one.

Meng Na, the family's only child and obvious successor, took well to magic, although her interests more resembled her mother's without any of her father's ambitions. As a teenager, her studies included archaeology and history, and her hobbies included petty theft and grand larceny. As an adult, she was an adventurer and archaeologist, Indiana Jones with flawless hair.

Over time, she became well known as a illustrious purveyor of antiques and artifacts. What she wants, she finds, and then she acquires. She buys, and she sells. Sometimes she skips the buying step. If there's something you want, then Meng Na will find it for you--if it even exists.

Although she's married into the Yggdmillenia family, she's made it obvious that she's not interested in their affairs. This hasn't stopped her from providing the family with all the catalysts they needed for summoning. Meng Na will tell you that was only a matter of business, but she provided them their catalysts at no charge.

Likewise, she was happy to provide catalysts for the Mage's Association--at a discount rate, no less!

[attr="class","field"]MAGPIE. If she wants something, she will do her best to take it. She's attracted to pretty things, shiny things, expensive things, or just random things. It's hard to predict her taste, but it's easy to predict that she's got grabby hands--or spells, such as it were.

FLIGHTY. Meng Na gets bored quickly. She likes to explore and gain new experiences. She has passing interest in a great variety of people and things, but after a while, she always moves onto her next obsession.

HISTORY. Meng Na adores history and all its heinous splendor. She loves history's depravity and violence; she loves its ill-fated romances and doomed dreams; she loves the futility of the losers and the short-lived victories of the winners.

THE COMEDIAN. The world is a wonderful, horrible joke--and it feels like no one else gets it. (She thought Octavian did. She found out she was wrong. She feels betrayed.) Meng Na seems like she's always in high spirits, but that's just because she finds abominable things hilarious.

INDIANA JONES. She can be a little rough and tumble. She's used to life on the road (and on the run, on more than one occasion), eating disgusting rations, sleeping in tents, building campfires, and living without any creature comforts.

ADVENTUROUS. This is the part of her that is beautiful. She revels in exploration, the search for lost treasure, the rediscovery of the past, the reclamation of it for the future. Meng Na is fearless, fiery passion. It's easy to love her like this, but she will burn you alive.

PETTY. Octavian can't get a break. Her favorite topic of discussion is how dreadful a person her husband is. If she has a chance to torment him, she will take it. She is asexual, but she takes lovers just to annoy Octavian. In fact, annoying Octavian is her favorite hobby.

SOME PEOPLE JUST WANT TO WATCH THE WORLD BURN. Meng Na's going to love this war, man.

• MENG CREST: THE WORLD EYE - The World Eye is a single, simple spell: with a bit of focus and prana expenditure, Meng Na can find anything or anybody. When her crest is active, her eyes turn red. She searches the world by sweeping it. Sweeping the entire planet takes half a day, a full twelve hours for a thorough search. Sweeping Taixuan takes five minutes at most. Should her focus be broken, she can continue where she left off when she regains her concentration.
• SPACE AFFINITY - Space, as in physical distance. Meng Na can create tunnels in space, allowing her to slot small objects through even vast distances up to half a world away. Larger objects and longer distances make opening and sustaining a tunnel much more difficult but far from impossible. This is how she "acquires" many of her artifacts.
  
  OBJECTS: Meng Na flat out cannot transport anything larger than perhaps three square feet in size. She needs to be able to see the object, either through scrying or a live video feed. Vision is not necessary for areas she's personally very familiar with. She keeps an impressive arsenal of weapons and handy doodads at her home, and she can summon any of them to her presence. Do not be surprised if she pulls an umbrella out of a tiny little purse.
  
  NOBLE PHANTASMS: Same as above but requires a more serious ritual. Again, she must be able to see the noble phantasm. The greater the size, distance, and ranking, the more difficult the ritual is. Any noble phantasm ranked B or higher simply can't be stolen unless she somehow finds a way to dramatically increase her prana.
  
  BODY PARTS: Meng Na can "steal" living things, except a body is protected by its own prana and life force. Thus, she can only take small body parts that remain 100% functional despite their removal: an eye still sees, a heart still pumps blood. She cannot close the space tunnel she opened to take the body part without first destroying the body part.
  
  Destroying a living thing requires attacking it with more prana than the entire body possesses. As such, Meng Na can murder normal people without magical circuits quite easily by stealing their heart. Killing a magus by stealing their heart is generally beyond her power unless they are very weak.
  
  The only living thing she has is Octavian's eye. It sits on her vanity.

• HEALING - Specifically surgery, and only when she can crutch on her space affinity. Meng Na is an excellent magical surgeon, and she's quite renowned for organ transplants and tumor removal. Meng Na's reasonably adept at regular healing and purging, but she's nothing special in that regard. Even in Taixuan, there are better exorcists around.
• MAGIC CIRCUITS - Meng Na has a reasonable twenty-four magic circuits. Four of them are dedicated to keeping the tunnel open for Octavian's eye.
