General Rules
01
Don't be a dick. No god-modding, power-playing, or generally doing any of the things a decent rper shouldn't be doing.
02
Be active. We strive for daily replies here. If you can't make that, that's fine, but try to post a few times a week at least.
03
Write well. Replies should be long enough to reply to. 100 words is recommended. Please check for spelling, grammar, and typos.
04
Know your limits. We have a soft character cap at four canon spots. Otherwise, you can have as many characters as you can handle.
05
Animanga FCs. Artwork of videogame FCs are also acceptable. FCs from other types of animation may be accepted on a case-by-case basis.
06
One account per character. Also, the account name should be the character's name (or nickname) for sake of easy tagging.
07
OOC Accounts. You're welcome to make an OOC account for your bookmarking convenience.
08
Graphics and Templates. Avatars are 100x100. Signatures are disabled. Please don't use posting templates in the IC forums.
09
Communicate. Talk to us! Talk to each other! We want to foster a community that cares about each others' plots and characters.
10
Participate. Catharsis is member-driven. If your characters won't fight, kill, and/or die, nothing will ever happen. Go make things happen.

Character Rules
01
Canon characters. Unless you can convincingly explain what a canon master is doing at Catharsis, you can't apply them. On the other hand, canon servants are 100% allowed.
02
Canon list. Not to be confused with canon characters, the site has a canon list. These are primary characters that are directly involved in the Holy Grail War, and you should apply for them!
03
Non-canon spots. Characters that don't fit anywhere on the canon list are allowed. They can end up becoming central characters, but for the most part, these would be secondary characters, like family members or classmates.
04
Masters. Masters are all assumed to be decent magi. The suggested age range is 20-35, and we will put a cap on teenaged characters if necessary. When applying for a Master, we ask for a list of their combat strengths and weaknesses.
05
Servants. When applying, a Servant begins with their base stat parameters for their class and three skills (at rank C) of your choosing. They have three upgrades to customize these stats/skills. Their stats may be further adjusted depending on their Master's magic circuits.
06
Homunculi. Homunculi are physically frail but their magic prowess far surpasses human potential. Keep this in mind when noting down their strengths and weaknesses. Note that homunculi have a life expectancy of only several months to a couple decades.
07
Character Death. Naturally. Of course, you can't go around killing characters without permission from the roleplayer.

Grail War Rules
01
Seven per side. There are seven masters and seven servants of the basic classes (Saber, Archer, Lancer, Rider, Caster, Berserker, Assassin) on each faction.
02
Black Faction. Black trends towards the Chaotic alignment for masters. It consists of any of the many magi of the Yggdmillennia families, who stole the Holy Grail and have kept it hidden for over half a century.
03
Red Faction. Red trends towards the Lawful alignment for masters. It consists of mages loyal to the Clocktower and stray freelancers, acting with the goal of putting an end to Yggdmillennia.
04
Ruler. The only neutral party, Ruler is summoned by the will of the Holy Grail into a human host. Ruler can cast command spells and exists to oversee the Great Holy Grail War.
05
Inevitable betrayal. It is fine to blur team lines. Yggdmillennia is only a group of families loosely allied under a vague ideal, and the Mage's Association is an infamously backstabbing lot.
06
Winner takes all. There is only one victor in the Holy Grail War. Despite the factions, there will only be one master that has their wish granted by the Grail.
07
Certain doom. It is in each team's best interest to work together to battle the threats on the opposing side. It is also far better for anyone on your team to win the Grail than to have the other team's master claim it, because everyone on the losing team dies.
08
No combat system. Fight as you wish, although preferably fight quickly. There is no formal method of tracking health or prana, but no one's prana should be infinite.
09
Time. Each IC forum represents an entire day. Every other week, a new IC forum with the next day will go up. You may RP in liquid time on any of the existing forums.
